Message from the Connétable

Dear Parishioners,

Last weekend on Gorey Common, we saw the return of the Jumelage Games. This takes place every two years at a venue alternating between a Jersey Parish and a French Town in Normandy. The last one was in 2023 in Granville and Grouville/ Port Bail were victorious. With the permission of our twinning committee, I volunteered our services to the Jersey Normandy Association to stage this event in Grouville this year.

The Chef Tenants were generous in allowing us to utilise their precious facility in Gorey for the event (where would we be without them)?

The newly formed Grouville Petanque Club allowed us to use their terrains as well and organised and supervised a considerable competition between 8 competing Parishes.

Thank you to all the members of this club for helping in this way.

All the logistics and risk assessments were organised by Chris Osgood and our Parish Team, so well done to them.

Our very own Paul Robinson made all the T-shirts and water bottles and medals which were sponsored by Martin Vasev of the Pembroke, so thanks to all of you.

The ultimate thanks go to the Chairperson of the Twinning Committee and her members for pulling off a great competition and a great weekend. BRAVO GROUVILLE.

Mark Labey

Connétable of Grouville
